KPMG built a state-of-the art learning, development, and innovation facility to further enhance the world-class training capabilities in Lake Nona, FL.

Project Description

Consistent with KPMG’s focus on anticipating and understanding emerging trends, the facility’s Innovation Center provided an immersive learning experience that enhanced the skills KPMG professionals brought to client situations. The 800 bathroom pods had arrived onsite as fully functional and outfitted bathrooms, complete with fixtures and tiles. These pods were produced in a climate-controlled factory out of our Orlando facility, ensuring high quality and consistency.

After production, they were wrapped in waterproof plastic, allowing them to withstand shipment and exposure to the elements for up to a year if necessary.

The use of modular pods allowed the general contractor to efficiently equip three residential wings with bathrooms while the superstructure was still being constructed and before the curtain wall was completed. This innovative approach not only saved time but also ensured a higher standard of quality and efficiency in the construction process.

Prefabrication Advantages

• Reduced the schedule by 3 months

• The use of bathroom pods achieved a neutral impact to Total Installed Cost

• $12M improvement to the project’s net present value when accounting for the three month reduction to the schedule

• With the installation of 12 units per day, the pods helped facilitate lean just in time deliveries reducing required laydown area
